Professional BIAB training with assessed case studies

Learn how to apply BIAB, also known as Builder in a Bottle, safely, confidently and to industry standards.

This course is designed for qualified manicure therapists who want to offer BIAB treatments as part of a professional nail or beauty treatment menu.

BIAB is a popular nail treatment because it helps create strength, structure and protection for the natural nail while still giving a polished, natural-looking finish. It can be used as a natural nail overlay, as a base for colour, or as part of a nail enhancement service.

However, BIAB is not just “thicker gel polish”. Proper training matters. You need to understand natural nail preparation, product placement, structure, safe curing, contraindications, removal, aftercare and how to protect the natural nail.

This is not a quick “watch and copy” course.

You will complete home study, attend practical training and submit assessed case studies so your competence can be reviewed before certification.

Pre-requisite

Learners must already hold a manicure qualification before attending this course.

This is because BIAB application requires a sound understanding of natural nail care, nail preparation, hygiene, contraindications and safe working practice.

A gel polish qualification is also useful, but the minimum pre-requisite is a manicure qualification.

Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for:

  • Qualified manicure therapists
  • Beauty therapists wanting to add BIAB treatments
  • Nail technicians wanting to expand their treatment menu
  • Gel polish therapists wanting to offer a stronger natural nail service
  • Mobile therapists
  • Home-based therapists
  • Salon-based therapists
  • Salon owners who want to train or upskill team members
  • Learners who want to offer a popular, repeatable nail treatment

This course is not suitable for complete beginners with no manicure qualification.

Why choose this BIAB course?

BIAB is a highly popular treatment because many clients want stronger, healthier-looking natural nails without moving straight into traditional acrylic or hard gel extensions.

Clients may choose BIAB because they want:

  • Stronger natural nails
  • Extra protection
  • A smooth base for colour
  • Help with weak or bendy nails
  • A natural-looking enhancement
  • Longer-lasting nail results
  • A service that can be maintained regularly

BIAB can be a strong addition to your treatment menu because clients usually return for maintenance every 2–3 weeks.

However, BIAB must be applied and removed correctly. Poor preparation, over-filing, incorrect product placement, product applied too thickly, poor curing or incorrect removal can all cause problems for the natural nail.

This course gives you the foundation to work professionally, safely and confidently.

You will not be left to work it all out alone after training. Your case studies are reviewed before certification, giving you the opportunity to practice, build confidence and receive feedback.

Course structure

This course includes:

Home study

You will complete home study before or alongside your practical training.

This helps you understand the theory behind BIAB treatments and prepares you for the practical training session.

Practical training

Your practical training focuses on hands-on skills, nail preparation, product application, structure, curing, filing, finishing, safe working practice and building confidence.

Because BIAB requires control and precision, the practical training is supported by case study work after the course.

6assessed case studies

After your practical training, you will complete 6 BIAB case studies.

These are submitted for review before certification. This ensures you have practiced the treatment, developed your technique and can show evidence of competence.

What treatments will I be able to offer?

Once you have successfully completed your training and case studies, you will be able to offer professional BIAB services, including:

  • BIAB natural nail overlays
  • BIAB strengthening treatments
  • BIAB with colour application
  • BIAB maintenance appointments
  • BIAB infills, where appropriate
  • Safe BIAB removal
  • BIAB as part of a structured nail treatment menu

You can use this course to add a popular, repeatable and higher-value nail service to your beauty or nail business.

Why case studies matter

Case studies are an important part of learning properly.

BIAB may look simple from the outside, but good results rely on correct preparation, product control, structure, safe curing, filing, finishing and aftercare.

Case studies give you the opportunity to practice on real people, develop confidence, refine your technique and show that you can carry out the treatment safely and professionally.

They also help you move from “I’ve attended a course” to “I can actually perform this treatment competently.”

That matters.

Your clients deserve more than a rushed certificate, and so do you.

By the end of the course, you will be able to

After successful completion of your training and case studies, you should be able to:

  • Explain what BIAB is
  • Understand the benefits of BIAB treatments
  • Carry out a professional client consultation
  • Recognise contraindications and know when treatment may not be suitable
  • Prepare the natural nail safely and correctly
  • Carry out suitable cuticle work
  • Apply BIAB safely and professionally
  • Understand product placement and structure
  • Build strength and support using BIAB
  • Cure BIAB correctly using a UV/LED lamp
  • File, refine and finish the nails neatly
  • Understand common application problems and how to avoid them
  • Give suitable aftercare advice
  • Understand basic BIAB maintenance and removal
  • Build BIAB treatments into your nail or beauty service menu

Accreditation

This course is accredite with Thinktree

You will receive your certificate once your training requirements and case studies have been successfully completed.

What makes this different from cheaper BIAB courses?

There are many low-cost BIAB and builder gel courses available, but not all training is equal.

BIAB application requires correct nail preparation, product control, safe curing, structure, filing, maintenance and removal. If these steps are not carried out correctly, the natural nail can become weak, damaged or over-filed.

With Jane Bryan Beauty Training, the focus is on professional competence, not just attendance.

You receive structured learning, practical training, case study requirements and tutor feedback before certification. This gives you a stronger foundation and helps you feel more confident when working with real clients.

A cheap course may give you a certificate.

A proper course should help you become competent.
